Got a new painting up on eBay right now. Its set as a five-day auction and opening bid is just 9 bucks! I know its been a looooooooooooong time since I’ve painted anything, but, after exorcising a few demons I feel I’m back to picking up my brushes again. I know this is just a simple painting but, it felt great to be painting again. I’m definitely motivated once again to produce more work. I really feel like I’m back up on the horse and ready to create. I’m also working on two other paintings right now that will also be sold only on eBay. I might be doing an upcoming show in L.A. sometime around November as well. Feels good to get back to what I love. Check out the auction here on eBay….I also listed a few older paintings as well. Peace out!

(death god” or “death spirit”) is the personification of death in Japan. It’s unclear when the concept entered Japanese culture; it may have been imported from China (where there are several psychopomp deities), or possibly been imported from Europe during the Sengoku era—that period in European history featured a common motif of the Grim Reaper gathering souls. The term appears twice i…n the play The Love Suicides at Amijima by Chikamatsu Monzaemon (1721). The term shinigami may also be used more loosely to refer to any death deity. It seems to be a recent term, however, as it belongs to no specific Shinto deity and is rarely used in folklore. Today, the use of shinigami for psychopomps and other supernatural beings associated with death in Japanese manga and anime is common. For example, the series Ballad of a Shinigami, Bleach, Death Note, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Soul Eater, and Kuroshitsuji use shinigami as a major plot device.

I have put up a total of 9 paintings up for grabs on eBay. I have kept the opening bids on all of these pieces very, very, low compared to what these paintings would cost via my website or in a gallery setting. Why am I selling off my original paintings so low? Well, it’s a new year and I need to get out with the old to bring in the new. Plus I need some start-up money to begin screen printing! This will give me the extra income necessary to buy all the supplies I need to get things going. If you have ever bought some of my work now would be a great time to buy a painting from me. This is a really good deal on some of my original paintings. I will also be posting up 3 more paintings on Monday to add to the list. This is a win/win situation…Im selling some originals at a low starting price to all my peeps and from the sales I can begin diving into some serious screen printing. Check out the auctions here and thanks for all the support folks. Check it out-

What up folks. Just sold my paper creations I did for The Art Centers fund raiser last week. Thanks to whoever bought my art work. The funds for the work will be split 50/50 between me and The Art Center. I will probably do some more of these works on paper over the next few weeks. More that likely I will have a few things for sale up on good ol’ eBay sometime next week or so. Im working with some distressed inks and experimenting with some new looks as well. More on that later though. For now, Ill be working on a few necesary things. One of those items will be getting back into showing work durrnig Art Walk in 2011. Not sure what months Im gonna start but, things are in the pipeline for me to get involved with Art Walk once again. Secondly, I want to get all new works out to my home gallery at Avondale Artworks in February. I plan on working on all sorts of stuff the first few months of 2011. A lot of surprised are in store foks. Thanks for all the love in 2010.

What up folks. Just sold one of my pieces from the Malice in Wonderland series yesterday. Big ups to Joseph S. out in California for making the purchase via checking me out on the web. Thanks for the love Joseph! Your piece is on its way. Makes me glad to see that the website is really helping me get my work out there to folks outside of Jax who may not know who I am. 2011 will be all about me expanding into new areas with my work. I am scheduled to start showing in a couple places(shows) in L.A. in the beginning of next year…stay tuned on that deal. Will be nice getting some work back out to L.A. next year for a couple shows. Also starting early next year I will be sending out some more exclusive work to Gallery 323 East in Royal Oaks Michigan (Stay tuned on this one too). 2010 has been a good year but, 2011 is going to see a lot more effort by me in my quest for world domination! LOL!

Whats up everyone! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was busy with painting and sculpting out a custom vinyl toy. Rose Art has created some customizable, blank, vinyl, figures very similar to Kidrobots Dunny and Munny DIY characters. This was a lot of fun! The dude has a pumpkin head so I decided to take out my exacto blade and gave the pumpkin a hand carved face. The figure is really cool and really easy to work with, I named the piece “Tricks & Treats”, he’s all hand carved, hand painted, and even wears a purple cloak. I plan on doing more figures very soon! I also have my “Night Owl” painting up for grabs as well! Heres a description of the Night Owl piece: This is an original painting/art piece by Brian Gray. It is one of a kind and not a reproduction of any sort. This is for the 100% original custom design by me. This piece is done on high quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides. The painting has all ready been wired and is ready to be hung. The painting was inspired by my child hood fear of owls. Sounds crazy huh? Well, when I lived in MI we used to camp a lot. I made up a story to my brother about an owl that would hoot at night to warn people he was on the prowl and he would be looking to take people’s souls. I told him it was an old ancient owl that the Indians used to worship. I told him the it used to lead the souls of dead Indians to the after life but, after all the Indians were run off, the owl started coming after the living and would attack those who entered the old Indian grounds. Scared him, scared me, and the rest is history.
The bidding prices are starting off low. My “tricks or treats” figure is just 10.00 and the “night owl” painting is just 50.00. Here is the link to the auction. Thanks for checking it out!
