Drawing for Life is upon us and its time to get busy! I will be at the Art Center II from 10am to 10pm drawing non stop to help raise money for the American Cancer Society on 3/6. Stop in and check out all 14 of the artists participating this year and pick up some art work fresh from the artists hand. I will be willing to do ANY requests that people may have!!! I will have some bristol paper on hand and I will be taking requests for just 5.00. Come out tomorrow and show some luv, buy some art work, and help us in the fight against cancer. All proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society. On a side note, I still have my four paintings up for auction on eBay and the bidding/watching is getting fierce. All sales from my eBay auction will also benifit the ACS as well. The auction will be going til Saturday at 9pm. Here is a pic of one of the pieces I submitted to the Haiti Benefit show and Concert that’s taking place tonight at Suite 106 Gallery at the Jacksonville Landing from 5-9pm. Theres gonna be some killer bands, free Moonriver pizza, and a silent auction with some killer local artists involved to help raise funds for Haiti relief. Each painting is done on vintage Japanese paper, painted using acrylics, signed, dated, and comes in a simple black frame measuring 8×10. Just finished up an interview with the Florida Times Union recently. The article focused on Riverside artists and what we do. The interview covered me, and my friends Logan Zawacki, and Darlene Muto. It was a lot of fun and I think its great that the Times Union was interested in all of us. Just finished ordering my flyers for the Malice in Wonderland show that will take place in April at Avondale Artworks Gallery here in Jax, FL. The show will be centered around my paintings inspired by the tale of Alice in Wonderland. April is rapidly approaching and I’m working quite heavily on sketching, painting, planning, brainstorming, and organizing my body of work for the event. I have even come up with a back story to each character and why I am painting the way I am. I learned from artist Camile Rose Garcia that it’s a great idea to write down a story for your characters and then go from their to come up with there look and overall style. This was a great idea. I was just going for a “cool” look but, now I have put much more thought into each character than I previously planned. This worked out great since I was kind of stuck on the design work for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb and the Queen of Hearts. Writing a back story for them really helped me flesh out there look and their overall style. Ya learn something new everyday. More pics of works in progress to come…stay tuned peeps. Thanks to everyone out there that has shown so much interest in this show of my work. Feedback is always nice and keeps ya moving forward and to exceed expectations. This is gonna be tons of fun!

Ok, so a few updates about my “Malice in Wonderland” series. First off I spoke with the ever so cool Ken Stutes at my main gallery @ Avondale Artworks here in Jacksonville about my upcoming series. He was really excited about the whole idea and will give me the room I need to display the work( Ken has huge wall space too). The show will be slated for April instead of March. Theres just to many characters that I want to cover so, I’m gonna have to wait til April before the showing. I’m organizing all sorts of stuff. The thoughts of a “mixed drink” tea party with cakes and cookies sounds good to me for the reception…I’m working on that now. The sketches so far are rough at best but, I’m getting some good ideas on where Im heading with all of this. To see more of the sketches in detail visit my sketches section. Stay tuned.

Just finished an interview with the folks at BeDynamik. There website features a section called “Duval Talent” that features artists, musicians, poets, and local talents from all over Duval county. I had a lot of fun doing the interview and appreciate them taking interest in what I do. Im super excited about the latest release of Alice in Wonderland. Tim Burton is heading this one up and from what I can tell…its gonna be awesome. I have always loved everything about the world of Wonderland. The queen, the card knights, Alice, the mad hatter, and just the magic found in Wonderland. It seems pretty fitting for my style of art work. I have decided to work on a series of paintings inspired by Alice and the world of Wonderland. I have already begun several sketches of the mad hatter, Alice, and the queens card knights. I will be working on getting this complete for a March showing at Avondale Artworks. Still need to sort out some details but, It’s on one way or another. I’ll post some sketches soon and some sneak peeks when I get things done. I really want to do several paintings, large and small, stuffed animals, and maybe even some sick t-shirt designs. I want this to be a lot of fun and offer up some killer work. The release for the Tim Burton version of Alice will be in March so I figured its fitting to have an opening at the beginning of March. Gives me plenty of time to get it done too. Keep them eyes peeled…this is gonna be fun!
