What up peeps. Sorry for the lack of posts on the ol’blog here. Just been busy with different projects and life in general. I based these drawings off of old Japanese folklore. I’m having fun drawing and kind of getting back to the fundamental things that I have always enjoyed as an artist. I’m tired of random art show, rushed deadlines, and trying to make everyone happy. Now I’m in a position where I’m creating work for myself and what makes me happy. I hope you all enjoy some of my latest ideas. Hopefully some of these drawings will turn into large-scale paintings or maybe even into a book or something. I’ve also been working on prints and some screen printing on clothing. Hopefully I will have a few designs ready by the fall. Stay tuned for some examples of what I got cooking on the back burner for that one. Sometimes all ya need to reinvent yourself is to step away from the spotlight for a minute and try to focus on the simplicity of just pencil, paper, and an eraser and just have fun creating without the pressure of deadlines and other people’s agendas. Stay creative!- B.

PS -I will be selling these drawings after I frame them and all….should be by sometime next week or so.

SOLD @ Avondale Art Works

Thanks to the lady who bought this painting for her daughter who according to the story really, really, really, wanted this piece. Thanks for the love and thanks for giving one of my paintings a new home.

9 Paintings on eBay…NOW!

I have put up a total of 9 paintings up for grabs on eBay. I have kept the opening bids on all of these pieces very, very, low compared to what these paintings would cost via my website or in a gallery setting. Why am I selling off my original paintings so low? Well, it’s a new year and I need to get out with the old to bring in the new. Plus I need some start-up money to begin screen printing! This will give me the extra income necessary to buy all the supplies I need to get things going. If you have ever bought some of my work now would be a great time to buy a painting from me. This is a really good deal on some of my original paintings. I will also be posting up 3 more paintings on Monday to add to the list. This is a win/win situation…Im selling some originals at a low starting price to all my peeps and from the sales I can begin diving into some serious screen printing. Check out the auctions here and thanks for all the support folks. Check it out-

Spring Cleaning!

Wow, I just realized how long its been since I posted up something here at the site. Just been working a lot, Jeremy started Tee-Ball, and I’m still putting things in motion to start making my own prints and apparel. With all this on my plate its been really hard to paint lately. Hopefully things will die down a bit in the coming weeks but, damn I’ve been really busy with life in general lately. None the less, I have a special announcement. Starting tomorrow I will be selling a lot of my older paintings on eBay to go to the highest bidder. Bidding is starting off low as to keep this fun and exciting. I’m am auctioning off any remaining ORIGINAL paintings from the “Malice in Wonderland” series along with several older paintings that just have not found a home yet. I will put a link to the auction as soon as I get it up on eBay so keep them eyes peeled! Doing a bit of early spring cleaning to make room for what I got cooking next. – B.G.

Want a Painting? For free? Check it out!

Whats up everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts as of late. I’ve been busy with all sorts of side projects! Anyhow, I wanted to let everyone know that I am participating in the all new Jax Art Hunt that will take place this Saturday 2/5! I have donated the painting above titled “The Darkness Within”…i think it measure 11×16 and also a smaller 8×8 piece with a “skull bunny” holding balloons. So what is this art hunt all about? Is the art work really free? Well, several local artists are donating works, for free, to be placed in hidden locations all around Jacksonville for anyone interested to get out there and hunt these pieces down. Once ya find a painting it is yours to keep. All we ask in return is that you let us know you found it via the Jax Art Hunt Facebook page or twitter account….or hell just email the artist even! I think this is such a great way to get art work out there in the public and attract folks who may be a little intimidated by art shows and art gallery settings. I think it just makes the work a lot more accessible to the masses out there and hey, this is gonna be a lot of fun too. Here is a link to all the information you need about the Art Hunt via my buddy and awesome artist Yvonne Lozano. Yvonne has done a terrific job getting this organized and getting the ball rolling. Lets have some fun and get out there and hunt down some art work.-

From Yvonne Lozano:   “The art is being donated by local talent, the first hunt will be Saturday, Feb. 5th, 2011, the art will strategically be placed around town, then clues will be uploaded via Facebook and Twitter. Art will be found in one of two ways: either by someone who happens to be in the right place at the right time and stumbles into it or by someone actively following the clues. The work is free to anyone who finds it first, the only thing we ask is that you contact us and let us know the work was found, hopefully take a pic of yourself with the work so we can post it on our website. This is better than finding a brand new TV on the side of the road, because unlike a TV that depreciates in value, art is invaluable, it’s an investment, it feeds the soul, sparks your imagination, and it’s candy for your eyes. This is the beginning of something great and I’m looking forward to the positive impact this will have on our city and beyond.”

More that likely I will have a few things for sale up on good ol’ eBay sometime next week or so. Im working with some distressed inks and experimenting with some new looks as well. More on that later though. For now, Ill be working on a few necesary things. One of those items will be getting back into showing work durrnig Art Walk in 2011. Not sure what months Im gonna start but, things are in the pipeline for me to get involved with Art Walk once again. Secondly, I want to get all new works out to my home gallery at Avondale Artworks in February. I plan on working on all sorts of stuff the first few months of 2011. A lot of surprised are in store foks. Thanks for all the love in 2010.

Where to Find Me

Currently I am not participating in any art galleries. Untill I get back up to speed I most likey will not be a "regular" at any galleries for a little while. Thing may change but, I have killed myself time and time again trying to keep up with the demands of art shows and art galleries and Im trying to limit myself to that sort of thing so I can produce better quality work vs just a big quanity of work to fill up wall space. Im sure this will change here in 2012 but, Im being very picky about what I will and wont do.

Best bet is to stay in touch with me is through my website! Join my email subscription so ya dont miss out on what I have up and coming or find me on facebook.
